What to do in Brighton?

I love Brighton, I fell in love with this magical place when I moved here 8 years ago. If you live in Brighton, it's still fun to do all the tourist things and if your about to visit Brighton let me tell you all the fun things to do!

i360

As a local residence I wasn't sure what the i360 would offer me. I didn't think I would be wowed by the views as I thought I've probably seen it from some top floor flats in Hove. The i360 was about the entire experience. The tickets looks like boarding passes, you go through security like you do on a plane and are greeted at the entrance of the pod by someone in a British airways uniform wishing you a pleasant flight. The view took my breath away, you could see the sea, the city building and the South Downs. Makes you realise how many different areas their are in brighron and how diverse there are.

Brighton Night out

Most people come to Brighton for the Nightlife. When I worked in an office by Brighton station the hen and stag dos would start walking past on Thursdays dressed as all sorts of funny ( and some rude)  characters. If your coming to Brighton I would reccomend a visit to walkabout. They have great shot Deals, big dance floor and big smoking area. They also have a separate area for shisha. No Brighton night out would be complete without a 3am binge on either Cheeky chicken  on West Street or Buddies along the seafront.

Shopping and lunch in Brighton

If your making a weekend of it, a little shopping trip and some lunch would be on your agenda. You can of course visit Churchill square which will have your normal retail shops. If you want to experience Brighton properly, a visit to the laines and lanes is definitely in order and there's so many unique restrains there for a pit stop! I love shopping at snoopers paradise and have lunch at either Pompokos or Street Thai.

Lucky voice

I go here once or twice a year, again this is in the laines. You get your own private booth with your friend and you can sing, dress up in props and dance to your hearts content. You pay to higher the booth and you ring a buzzer when your ready to order your next cocktail so that you don't need to leave the booth. Great fun.

Pottery making and painting

There are a few places that you can do this! My fave is the one in North street, called the pottery Cafe I've been here with the girls and I've been here with my mum. I usually purchase a ready made cup or plate and spend hours painting it. I longest I spent in there was 4 hours, paint my cup with elephants on. I am no way artistic but with the help of stencils, I was able to outline and colour in. You do have to wait a few hours for it to be glossed so if yours down for the weekend, maybe do it on the first day and go back and collect it.

Cocktail making

Go to Revolution - I've done cocktail making in a few different places in Brighton but vodka revolution on west street is my fave. They have an amazing range of cocktails. You get one on arrival, make and drink around 3. Yummy nibbles a private table upstairs when your ready do boogie after. I went here in June for my birthday and going again in August for Hen do.

Under cliffs in Rottingdean

If you are here for a walk or a bike ride I would defiantly recommend going here cliffs in Rottingdean. It's very beautiful and after a paddle on the sea. There's lots of big rocks on this beach, so if you like to cash sea wildlife you will find lots here!

Walk on the Downs

again if your here for the walks there is lots of different walks. You can walk to the devils dyke or you could go just further out of brighton and go to the seven sisters

Zip wire coming soon

it's not here yet but I'm so excited for it to arrive. It's were the old brighton wheel used to be. It will defiantly be so fun! Watch this space! I will blog about it when I've been on it!

Festivals

Festivals Wildlife, Pride and Fright festival. There are lots of festivals that happen in Brighton. My favourite if Wildlife festival which is usually in June. I've been two years running and it's great fun. A two day festival and usually has an amazing line up. I upgraded to VIP this yeah which I would defiantly recommend because their was less queues for the toilets! If that doesn't sounds amazing enough reason to upgrade… I queued for 45 mins on the other side. Also Gay Pride in August is amazing! I love going to the two day street party on st james street. I went last year and will be going this year. If you check out http://www.whatsoninbrighton.com you can see what fun event are coming up

Brighton pier

Pier wrist bands… of course your in Brighton, so a trip to the famous Brighton pier is a MUST. It's even better if you purchase an unlimited ride wrist band. It's literally so much fun! Me and my boyfriend have done this a few times. You go on all the rides and then go on them all again. Last time we did this was last year and we spend around 4-5 hours there.

Hove lagoon
Hove lagoon water sports, I haven't been since it was all updated. I have done kayaking here which was fun and I didn't capsize yay! But if your seriously into water sports they have much more to offer including the paddle boarding.

Lastly, to recover from all this fun take a trip to Brighton beach. Take a picnic of hangover food, and watch the sea or the sun go down! If you are coming to BRIGHTON have an amazing time!

Lists

I read a post online today about a girl that LOVES lists! And I am with you honey!

Writting down your goals is commitment in writting that you are going to do somthing! And once you’ve achieved and ticket of highlighted it.. well what an amazing feeling!

I love a list and today I was writing a list about writing lists.

At the start of every year I usually write down my goals! This year was different because I went traveling my only goals was to see more, so more, eat more and tan more!

Now that I am back to reality it’s time to get my list on!

So I have written a list on my phone keys things to by a super cute note pad and super cute colour gel pens!

Next I want to write lists of:

I’m hoping to add more to lists To my notepad but the ideas might not come until I choose the notepad!
Lists are great for setting your goals in writting! No going back once they are set!

What do you write lists about? Do you find them helpful?

Traveling with your Partner

Since being back, I have been asked lots of time weather I found it difficult to travel with my boyfriend.

Before, I left for Thailand in January I must admit this was somthing that had crossed my mind. We do not argue a lot but we argue over the little things like couples do.

Upon arriving in Thailand, we were tired from all the traveling and where grouchy because we were confused by the arrival card forms. I could sense that my boyfriend was getting annoyed and was asking me questions as if it was my fault. I thought oh no here we go.

The truth is, that was about as much as we argued in Thailand.

The everyday life of traveling around Thailand, takes away so many of the stresses back home. Speed of life, is not full on anymore it’s medium. You don’t have to rush home from work too cook dinner, before going to bed and starting again. There was nothing to argue about.
If anything traveling made our relationship stronger. I now like to allocate us time together, to just be us and spend time together.

For me I was worried about wearing no make up all the time. Within the first week, I was going out without make up on and this allowed me confidence to grow. The best thing was my boyfriend every other day, kept telling me how beautiful I look. He told me how he noticed more freckles surfacing and how lovely and refreshed I looked. This really helped with my confidence and helped me feel comfortable in my own skin.

Sometimes, we found it harder to make friend as a couple, rather then a solo back packer. We found ourself  mainly making friend with already formed groups or other couples. I feel that solo backpacker do not want to feel third wheely. Which I understand as there are some cringey couples out there, but I think we are okay ha ha.

We had lots of drunken night out, long trecks and relaxing days. The trip  made me realise I wasn’t just traveling with my boyfriend, I was traveling with my best friend.

Now that we are home, I find myself receiving text messages saying ” I love you beautiful, you are my best friend”. Which I admit is cringey but it does make me realise how good our relationship is.

Cannot wait for our next adventure.

Why hate it before you try it

A lot of people don’t like sushi.

when I ask why most people say because they don’t like fish. Did you know that sushi means ” on a bed of rice”

Sushi does not necessarily mean you would put anything fishy on it. They do vegetable sushi, chicken sushi, curry sushi.

I often wonder what goes on in somebody’s head, when they say they do not like something, before they have tried.

My boyfriend will not try gherkins or olives because they are green. When someone offers them to him, he says he dosent like them. How does he know if he hasn’t try them.

When I was younger I used to make my mind up, if I didn’t like somthing before trying it. My dad would make me try it, I would chew it and swallow quickl, then agree that I defiantly didn’t like it. My dad said how would you know, you made up your mind before you ate it.

I believe this method of thinking, is also how we think about life.

Have you ever gone to Thorpe park? Looked at the scariest ride and thought nope I won’t like that. Then the person you are with keeps pestering you and you end up going on it due to peer pressure. Then you hate yourself for giving in as you are being strapped up, preparing yourself to have an enjoyable experience. The ride goes and your still panicking as it head to the scariest part, and once you have done it you laugh. You laugh because you are relived, as it wasn’t as scary as you expected. You laugh because you actually had fun and enjoyed it. You laugh because you have just experience such a contract of judging and hating the experience before doing it, and actually loving and having fun during the experience.

If you can change your mind set of hating before you try, you will find life more enjoyable. The food that you hate before trying, actually may be somthing you end up having in your daily diet. That ride at Thorpe park that you would hate to go on, may be the reason you want to go again.

If you start saying yes to trying new things, your life will be open to so many new aspects. It may take you traveling, it may take you sky diving and I promise you it will open your eyes.

Backpacking – what to bring and what not to bring

If your going ok your first backpacking adventure, like many you will be wondering what to bring. You don’t want to bring to much and be carrying a heavy bag around, but at the same time you need certain things to survive.

Ladies, hair dryers and hair straighteners are a no no. Your hair will dry within 20 mins of being outside, embrace nature drying your hair it’s all part of traveling. If you straighten or dry your hair in the heat, you will be damaging your hair big time. The biggest bonus of not brining these is it’s a lot of weight taken off your back. Plus my hair grew loads and feels healthier. You will however need lots of hair bands, I was forever wearing one and keeping one on my wrist. I went with 30 and came back with 3.

Make up was the hardest decision for me, as I’m the time of girl you hug and end up will my make up on your shirt. Travelling I took, two lots of BB cream and lipgloss both with additional suncream in them. Truth is, after two weeks I was way to tanned for my BB cream and my skin felt so healthy anyway I didn’t want to wear it. When we went on night out hardly anyone wore make up, apart from young girls that where there for a Party weekend.

Towels are a pain, not every hotel/hostel will provide you with towels. Plus you usually need your own towel for beaches or sitting beside the pool. We discovered microfibres towels, they roll up into a tiny sack. They try very quickly, if you poor water on them in the sun you can practically watch them dry.

Two paid of shoes only! Flip flops and comfy walking shoes. I invested in sketchers which were super comfy, when we moved from each destination I put my flip flops in my bag and wore my comfy shoes. We also had walking boots ( light but grippy) which we kept in my boyfriend bag as his was much bigger. The walking boots where perfect for rainy days and going for hilly walks.

I originally packed one of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and body wash. We packed these items in a seperare see through bag, with all or cosmetics. Don’t forget sunceeam and mosquito spray. One bottle of sunceeam lasted us sixweeks. There are shops, most of the time you will find it fairly cheap to buy these items.

Only bring one book, because you can buy books out their, they have book exchange cafes and most hostels you will find someone you can exchange with. If you have a kindle then that is ideal.

The biggest question is how many clothes to bring. The awnser is now much. I brought with me 3 pairs of shorts, 3 strap tops, 3 dresses, 2 strap tops, and a mix of four bikinis that I could mix and match. It dosent seem a lots but once you have put your costemtics, your shoes and your clothes in your bag will be pretty full. Plus I’m thaialnd was found so many clothes and items we wanted to buy and put in our bags.

Don’t forget a water proof jacket, for when it rains. I always had mine attatched to the outside of my bag.

It dosent matter what you bring, at the end of the day you will have fun. Brining less stuff just means, you will moan less when you are moving about.

Bucket list

As many of you will know by now, I love a bucket list. I have managed to tick a few more things off in Thailand. Thailand also inspired me to add a few knew things. I’ve also added into the to do list countries I’ve been too; I’ve currently been to 12 countries and can’t wait to add more.

Shine

Today’s daily promt is the word shine. Whilst, to me the word shine may be positive to other it may not.

Some people may struggle to shine, or they my feel of they shine as much as they want to they may be judged my others.

The words shine, is to show everything, to beam and give it your all. To make a door handle shiny, you have to add polish and give it a load of elbow grease.

For us to personally shine to out full potential. We have to strip back to basics and give it everything we have.

In order to shine at work, you have to break the job down in to smaller bites and master each individual part, so that the total part shines.

To be best we can be as a person, we have to get rid of any fake aspects on the surface and work hard with what we have naturally.

Why do we want to shine? Because the heart automatically loves shiny things. It’s get all of our senses excited, to our eyes eye candy and to our brains a puzzle of why it is shiny.

What I learnt in 2016

As 2016 draws to a end, I’ve taken the time to reflect on what I have learnt. The year has been full of many ups and downs. I’m excited to for 2017, with all the new things I have learnt.

Focous on you, yourself and I

You are the only person that you have to spend your life with, every second and every breath. If you have ever watched black mirror (first series) it shows a girl living inside of her own brain and she had to control her life with a control panel. The truth is, that’s what life is about you are in control of the panel. If your not happy, then change.

Avoid processed food, healthy food can be fun

Courtesy of Joe wicks AKA the body coach, I have learnt that processed food is a no no. If you do not know what all the ingredients are on the packet don’t eat it. I’ve also learnt that you can eat burger and chips on a diet but you make the burgers yourself from lean turkey meat and your fries are sweet potato. Eating healthy dosent have to be boring!
You can do what you want no commitment

The start of this year I moved back home with parents and I was going to save to buy a house. Avoiding going out, so I could save became boring and I realise my heart wasn’t 100% in it. Living at home, working full time with no commitments e.g. Children, meant the world is my oyster. With this in mind I decided to save to go traveling next year ! Super excited

Going to the gym early morning is actually easy and refreshing

Okay, so I thought it was something I couldn’t do. After going a few times, I found it easier to go early morning before work then I did going to the gym on my way home. I actually, feel very refreshed after a morning gym session and am ready to conquer the day!

Work with higher authority rather then being scared of them
I used to be scared of anyone in a higher position then me. My big boses would come in, and I would say hi and avoid any further conversations. This year I learnt I am more knowledgable then I know and instead of avoiding them, I should take time to talk to them and I learnt a lot. I am now at a point of my life, that when I have a good idea I have enough confidence to put it forward to someone higher and the results have paid off.

Stop being mean to my hair no more bleach
Looking at photos from last year to now, I’ve gone from bleach blonde hair to ombré. My hair was like straw and when I would brush my hair, it would malt everywhere. Planning to go traveling helped me realise I can’t have hair like straw out there and needs to be manageable. I went ombré and had the brown matching my roots. I stopped bleaching my hair and instead had the end toned every couple of months. My hair is so much more healthy, I don’t panic about getting my roots done and I’m not worried about it when I go traveling next year. I used to straighten my hair everyday and now I only straighten or curl my hair at weekend IF I’m going out.

Granny pants are not the end of the world

This year I’ve been in and out of hospital and nothing makes me feel better then getting into bed in my granny pants with an oversized tshirt. They are much better for us girlies and when you go to the gym FYI thongs are bad for you.

Time out = mental health

This reflects on all of the above but the main thing is balence. Yes it’s good to push yourself at work, yes push yourself st the gym, yes have a social life and see your family. Also yes, to taking a couple of hours or a Sunday out of all of the above and taking time for you. Have a bubble bath, light some candels and read a book ( hide your phone) get into some pjs paint your nails and watch a Disney film. Honestly, you will thank me. You cannot push yourself in anything, if your mental health is not okay, your brain won’t cope or fulfil its full capacity.

Sober times with friends

As great it is to have a good drunken night out, I’ve realised this year how important it is to do sober things with your friends. Example, on Monday night we have girls night with my besties, we cook dinner together, get in house coats ( dressing gowns) and watch Tv / do nails ect. I also have a friend ( Rosie) that I meet once a month and we go for coffee, or lunch at pompokos. It’s so important to spend this sober time with your friends. It’s allows times for bonding and time to talk properly.

2016 has taught me a lot about myself, my true friends and family. It’s given me confidence at work, about my weight. It’s shown me I can I get through some of my worse times. I cannot wait for 2017, with everything I have learnt!

September complete

In September I set my self goals in all aspects of my life personal, work and fitness.

September I wanted to focous on cardio. To do this I started taking grenadine shakes at 6:30am. I would get up and drive straight to the gym. I would spend 20 mins running, 10 mins on either cross trainer or bike machine. After this I would concentrate on core work outs such as sit ups, squats and plank. I would do this 3-4 times a week. There was one week where I achieved 5 days.

At work I set myself the goal to earn £500 commission and not let any student move ins fall through. September is usually my last month of the year for good commission, so I had to give it a big push. The student move ins where difficult and I had to be careful to send out lots of documentation so that I covered myself. My target for let’s/apps is between 8-10 and This month I achieved 11. I earned myself £690 commission. Which is over my own personal goal.

In my personal life I wanted to spend more time with family. I spent a Saturday with my cousin and his two children at a children play cafe. I also spend most of my Sunday’s with my niece, which has been so lovely and I will continue to do this.

  • Octobers goals
  • Food prep
  • 8 check ins ( work)
  • Save money and stay in more
  • Gym 3-4 times a week

How do you see the world

If you look at the clouds when you are feeling negative, you will see the clouds as blocking the sun or see the clouds as the beginning of the formation of rain.

If you look at the clouds when you are feeling positive, you can see the way the lights bounces off them. You will see the clouds as bubbly beautiful shapes or thin and whispy allowing the light to beam through them.

If you look at the clouds when you are feeling childish you may see them as candy floss, or the clouds may connect together to become shapes.

If you look at the clouds with a curious mind you may see that the clouds are different, they are floating in the sky and may be seen by different people in different moods around the world.
